The MP for Chelmsford has announced he will retire as an MP at the next general election.
Conservative Sir Simon Burns said: "I believe after 33 years it will be time for someone new to take over representing the people of Chelmsford".
The 63-year-old added he will "continue to serve all the people" of his constituency at Westminster until the election in 2020.
