St Julian’s - Newport - Ed Townsend (Liberal Democrat) died. He was a councillor since 2004 and since the 2012 election, the sole Liberal Democrat councillor in Newport. He was the deputy Leader of the Council between 2008 and 2011 and the Westminster candidate for Newport East in 2005 and 2010 and for Newport West in 2015. He was also a candidate for the Welsh Assembly in Newport East in 2003, 2007 and 2011. Before living in Newport, he was a journalist in the Merseyside.
